The typical patient seen by Dr. Ou has been diagnosed with Chronic Lyme Disease, mold illness, candida, parasites, Epstein-Barr, long haul COVID, autoimmunity, heavy metal toxicity, hormone imbalances, gut dysbiosis, limbic system dysfunction, POTS, and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, often all at the same time. Some don't have a diagnosis for their symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, insomnia, anxiety, depression, and digestive complaints. Others are told that it's "in their head." They have been to numerous other conventional, alternative, integrative, LLMD and functional medicine practitioners around the country. Most have tried to do their own research on the Internet. Most have tried all sorts of vitamins, minerals, herbs, supplements, and diets. Other therapies that his patients have tried include ozone, IV therapies, SOT, homeopathy, celery juice, fasts, colonics, LDI, cleanses, energy psychology, and many others. Some have had negative reactions to almost everything they've tried.
The therapies mentioned above all help some people, but there's always a percentage of people that they don't help. Dr. Ou started his journey into integrative medicine to help those who are unsuccessful with conventional medicine, such as those with Chronic Lyme Disease and mold illness. Over time, he started to see more and more people who did not respond or had a bad response to various integrative protocols for Lyme, mold, hormones, gut health, brain health, toxicity, etc. Working with this challenging group of people, he has slowly figured out what keeps them from healing by developing his own system of bioenergetic testing. One of the biggest lessons he's learned is that healing is like a combination lock. It has to be done in a specific sequence otherwise it will be ineffective or cause more problems, especially in complex cases. For example, in many of his Chronic Lyme patients, they don't respond to antimicrobial therapy until their limbic system is addressed first. Dr. Ou's bioenergetic testing system helps determine the optimal sequence of treatment and type of treatment that will be most beneficial. This helps to save a lot of time and money compared to the trial and error approach that everyone else uses. Ultimately, Dr. Ou's goal is to align the body, mind, and spirit utilizing the wisdom of ancient traditions such as Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic Medicine, medical intuition, and modern science to create a new method of healing for the 21st century.

Conventionally, Dr. Ou graduated Cum Laude in Physics with Distinction in All Subjects from Cornell University, received his M.D. from the University of Miami School of Medicine on a four year scholarship, and completed his residency in internal medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in 1999. He was board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1999 and by the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons.
From a holistic standpoint, Dr. Ou is one of only 3 medical doctors in North America certified in Autonomic Response Testing (ART) by the Klinghardt Academy. Dietrich Klinghardt, MD,PhD. is considered by many as one of the top integrative doctors in the world. Dr. Ou has taught at Dr. Klinghardt's advanced seminars and is the author of the chapter on A.R.T. in Dr. Neil Nathan's book, Energetic Diagnosis: Groundbreaking Thesis on Diagnosing Disease and Chronic Illness. He is also a contributing author to another book by Dr. Nathan: Toxic: Heal Your Body from Mold Toxicity, Lyme Disease, Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, and Chronic Environmental Illness. Dr. Ou is a founding diplomate member of ISEAI (International Society of Environmentally Acquired Illness). Dr. Ou has also trained with the Institute for Functional Medicine, Simon Yu, MD, author of the Accidental Cure, and Savely Yurkovsky, MD, creator of Field Control Therapy. He was one of the first doctors to be certified in the management of mold illness by Ritchie Shoemaker, MD, author of Surviving Mold. His other training includes coursework from ILADS, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM), American College For Advancement in Medicine (ACAM), the Academy of Comprehensive Integrative Medicine (ACIM), and the Academy of Medical Acupuncture (AAMA).
Because of his unique experience, his office has been a training site for medical students and residents of the Emory University School of Medicine and for integrative doctors from around the country. He has given talks for the Klinghardt Academy, The Forum for Integrative Medicine, other integrative medical groups around the country, and Chronic Lyme Disease Summit 2.
